Currently, we have over 250 children in our two villages with about 45 of them pursuing secondary, vocational and university education in various disciplines including accountancy, computer science, catering, etc. Others are serving as apprentices in various areas.
One of the goals of the SOS Children’s Village is to help improve the quality of life of the children and the communities in which the Villages are located. This goal is achieved by building and operating other facilities such as kindergartens, schools, medical and social centers as well as vocational training centers.
- A Village with 15 family houses and 120 children
- A kindergarten with 178 children
- A Girls Youth home in Tema with 15 young girls
- A Boys Youth home in Accra
- A Primary and a Junior Secondary School
- A Vocational Training Center (GVTC), which provides young people
an opportunity to study catering, secretarial skills and dressmaking.
- A clinic which provides basic health care to staff and children
- A Village with 8 family houses and 80 children
- A kindergarten
- A Primary and Junior Secondary School
- A clinic, which provides basic health care to the Asiakwa
community.
An international College, the Hermann Gmeiner International College that is an institution of academic excellence has been established for SOS children all over Africa and non-SOS children in Ghana. The College has been set up under a different management from the SOS Villages in Ghana.
