Corporate organizations and individuals have been called upon to support the good works of SOS Children’s Villages Ghana help eradicate poverty, child abandonment and illiteracy in Ghana. The call was made by the National Director of the association, Mr. Kojo Mattah in his address at the opening of four new family houses and a nurse’s flat at the SOS Village, Asiakwa

He solicited for support to enable to organization build a computer laboratory for the village to enhance the teaching of ICT in the school. Mr. Mattah announced the construction of two new villages in Kumasi and Tamale. He revealed that the inauguration of the houses is yet another manifestation of the organization’s continued commitment towards improving the quality of lives orphans and vulnerable children in the country whose potentials and talents otherwise could have gone wasted.

He expressed his appreciation to the Masikini Foundation, Santag Foundation, Chocolat Frey and Kinderhilfe Foundation of Swissair Staff all in Switzerland and Federation of Cocoa Commerce in the United Kingdom for financing the projects. Other donors were Dizengoff Ghana Limited who donated paints Messrs Evans Anfom and Associates for consulting support in designing and supervising and Consar Limited for the quality work they did.

The event was attended by friends and sponsors from Switzerland, UK and Ghana including Messrs Evans-Anfom, Mr. Isaac Tetteh the CEO of TT Brothers Company Limited and other well meaning Ghanaians.

There were cultural displays by school children and the Okyeman choir. The performance of the Okyeman choir touched the heart of Mr. Isaac Tetteh, a philanthropist and friend of SOS who requested that a similar choir should be put together in the village. He donated five thousand Ghana Cedis (GH¢5,000.00) to the village and promised a one year training in music for the leader of the choir to be formed in the village. He said the donation should be used to purchase a set of instruments to improve upon the talents of the children. He also donated bags of rice and fruit juice to the all family houses.

The foreign Sponsors were very pleased with the completion of the houses and admitted it was a challenge they helped push through.
